About the course
Aim of the Programme:
The objective of the International Postgraduate Diploma (IPGD) in Health and Social Care Management qualification is to develop learners’ understanding of policy, management theory and practice in health and social care. It provides learners with an opportunity to engage with the challenges facing professionals, services users and policymakers in their own country. It will provide knowledge that underpins the ability to work as an effective manager in the hospital/social care industry. It combines both theoretical and practical knowledge in the health and social care profession.
Programme Structure
This program consists of 6 compulsory units, which are equal to a total of 120 credits.
Course details
By the end of the program, learners will be able to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:- Analyze Policy Issues: Critically evaluate and analyze the policies and regulations impacting the health and social care sector, considering the perspectives of professionals, service users, and policymakers in their own country.
- Apply Management Theory: Apply management theories and principles to effectively manage and lead health and social care organizations, considering the unique challenges and complexities of the industry.
- Foster Effective Change: Develop strategies to lead and manage change effectively within health and social care organizations, taking into account the impact on professionals, service users, and stakeholders.
- Enhance Performance: Assess and implement strategies to enhance performance and quality improvement in health and social care settings, promoting optimal outcomes for patients, clients, and communities.
- Plan and Ensure Accountability: Develop and implement comprehensive plans, including financial, operational, and quality management strategies, while ensuring accountability and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Develop and Lead Teams: Cultivate effective team leadership and development skills, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment to optimize team performance and achieve organizational goals.
- Integrate Theoretical and Practical Knowledge: Integrate theoretical concepts with practical knowledge to address real-world challenges and issues in health and social care management, demonstrating the ability to apply acquired knowledge and skills in professional settings.

For entry onto theInternational Postgraduate Diploma (IPGD) in Health and Social Care Management qualification, learners must possess:
- An honours degree in a related subject or the UK level 6 diploma or equivalent overseas qualification, i.e. bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma
OR
- Mature learners (over 25) with at least five years of management experience if they do not possess the above qualification (this is reviewed on a case-by-case basis)

The objective of this unit is to present essential financial principles and managerial tools applicable to professionals in the health and social care sector. This unit emphasizes the importance of acquiring the knowledge and comprehension required for making well-informed financial decisions within health and social care organizations. It is imperative to study this unit with a focus on the legal frameworks and best practices at the local, national, and international levels concerning finance.

MANAGING PEOPLE IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE
The goal of this unit is to empower the learner to grasp the procedures associated with recruiting, overseeing, and nurturing individuals in the healthcare and social care setting.
